BREAKING: Hillary Clinton throws down the Epstein gauntlet — demands that Republicans allow her and Bill to testify in the open: “There’s nothing more transparent than a public hearing, cameras on.”
This has Trump in a sweaty panic…
“For six months, we engaged Republicans on the Oversight Committee in good faith. We told them what we know, under oath,” the former Secretary of State wrote on X. “They ignored all of it. They moved the goalposts and turned accountability into an exercise in distraction.”
“So let’s stop the games. If you want this fight,
@RepJamesComer, let’s have it—in public,” she added. “You love to talk about transparency. There’s nothing more transparent than a public hearing, cameras on. We will be there.”
Both Mr. and Mrs. Clinton are slated to give transcribed depositions at the end of the month, with contempt of Congress charges hanging over their heads if they refuse to do so. They have agreed to the depositions — but want the hearings to be open rather than closed-door.
Comer stated earlier this week that the Clintons will not be “treated differently than everyone else” and insisted that the subpoenas call for depositions before the committee, not a public hearing. It’s a naked attempt on his part to shield his party’s cult leader. Republicans have no interest on exposing the truth about Epstein, they just want to shift the blame away from Trump to Democrats.
A public hearing on Epstein is the last thing that Donald Trump wants from his sworn political enemies. Who knows what they might reveal about Trump’s own relationship with the billionaire pedophile? His name is all over the files, including heinous accusations of sexual abuse and rape, and he’s desperate to move on from the story.
The nightmare scenario for Trump is that the Clintons testifying sets a precedent by which he himself could be called to testify under oath about Epstein. He would then have to choose between revealing the truth about his vile relationship with the man, or perjure himself.
“The Democrats are already saying, ‘If you bring President Bill Clinton, and he has to testify, we’re bringing President Trump.’ What do you say to that?” NBC’s Tom Llamas asked Trump.
“Well, I think they might say that. But they’ve already brought me.… They had me indicted many, many, times. Many many times,” said Trump.
“It bothers me that somebody’s going after Bill Clinton,” Trump said later in the interview. “I liked Bill Clinton. I still like Bill Clinton.… I liked his behavior toward me. I thought he got me, he understood me.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also echoed Trump’s remarks—
“Look, I think that the president has respect for the former president of the United States, Bill Clinton,” she said. “He said yesterday himself they’ve shared a good relationship, and that’s what he was reiterating.”
Clearly, Trump is terrified of what the Clintons might tell the country and is desperately trying to flatter them into silence. It won’t work.
